Opposing counsel asks how you can show the image or export has not changed since you collected it. Record the acquisition hash at collection, and the set you produce when you produce it — beside your custody documentation, never instead of it. It is not a certification and it does not supply the certifier.
The record is in Base’s public transaction history rather than in a vendor’s database, so it does not become unavailable because a supplier went out of business. Keep the acquisition file and the receipt with your custody documentation.

Ways to use a dated file record
Acquisition hash
Record the hash your imaging tool reports, at collection time. It is one external mark inside your own process; it records nothing about who handled the file.
Production set
Record the exact export you hand over, so the copy the other side produces later can be compared with the one that left your hands.
Material for counsel
The report states which bytes were recorded and when. Whether a court accepts anything depends on that court, its rules, and a witness who can speak to the method.

Does this make my exhibit self-authenticating?
No. Federal Rules of Evidence 902(13) and 902(14) turn on a written certification signed by someone qualified to give it. The receipt data is material such a certification could describe; it does not replace the person who signs it.
Can it stand in for my custody documentation?
No. It records nothing about who handled the file, when, or under what authority. It is one external mark inside your process — beside the documentation and the certification a matter actually turns on, never instead of them.
What does the other side actually get?
The file and the receipt. They can recompute the fingerprint themselves and read the referenced transaction from Base through any explorer or RPC provider, without going through us at all. That is the point of handing it over.
